Among the finest in the Western world, the MFA’s collection of Asian art covers the creative achievement of more than half the world’s population since 4,000 BC. The collection encompasses Japanese, Chinese, and Indian painting and sculpture; Japanese prints and metalwork; Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese ceramics; and the arts of the Islamic world.

How to Pre-Register for Hear@Boston Guided Tours

Please read carefully:
Attendance is limited and pre-registration is required by the dates listed for each program.  To pre-register or for more information, either
  • email  lwarren@mfa.org or phone 617-369-3189.
  • Indicate the name of the tour and date in the subject line.
  • Indicate whether you want a neck loop or a head set.
(Tours for this event will leave from the Linde Family Wing Entrance, which is on Museum Road. This is a different entrance from the one we previously used. )
Since the museum wants to accommodate as many members as possible and since the number of assistive listening devices is limited, the museum has implemented a policy of one guest per HLAA/ALDA member  for tours, starting June, 2015.
Registered participants will receive a confirmation prior to the date of the tour with entrance and cancellation information.
Because the Gallery Tour Listening System equipment is reserved for hearing loss support group participants, the equipment is not available to other MFA Boston visitors for drop-in tours.  For that reason, guests of this program are requested to be aware of the the following policies:
  • Participants who register for accessible tours but cannot attend should note the cancellation policy on the confirmation to ensure that listening equipment is available to other visitors.
  • If you are unable to attend on the day of the tour, please email Karen Moss karmoss@hotmail.com as well as Lisa Warren.
  • Late registrations  cannot be accepted.
  • Those who have not pre-registered may only join a tour on a standby basis and will be turned away if registration is full.
  • Tours will be canceled if there are fewer than four people registered. Determination will be made based on the numbers when registration closes two weeks before the tour.
Tours will begin promptly at start time.  Attendees should arrive 15 minutes prior to start time.  We strongly recommend that new users of the FM system consult with their audiologist to become familiar with the t-coil feature on their hearing aids and cochlear implants.
